Behind the scenes !

The requirements were clear. We needed a wakepark, a winch, waves and a good time.

And we wanted a film with some story that is fun to watch, entertaining and showcases some hand selected tricks of Felix Georgii, Dom Hernler, Parks Bonifay, Dylan Miller, James Windsor, Joe Battleday, Brenton Priestley, Cameron Graham & Tobias Michell.

Frankly, our trip wasn’t about throwing the hardest tricks at all times. It was also about enjoying ourselves and each other so that everyone could do what he loved most. Isn’t it interesting tho how different board sports influence different riding styles?

Well anyway, enjoy this wakeboard edit that comes with a little twist. With the help of Alan Watts this is our poem to watersports and the element of water itself. It’s about this unique sensation you get no matter if in, under or above the water. Enjoy life, enjoy watersports, try different stuff – we never stop learning. Get outside your head sometimes and be kind to each other.

The cable park is located at 5 minutes from the Regional Airport and 2 hours drive from Jacksonville. There are 2 Sesitec System 2.0.
The first with flat boxes, 2 small wedge-style kickers.
The second with 1 large kicker, a round incline rail, a flat-up-flat trex rail and a double sided kicker/box combo transfer.

This year, the couple has chosen to take up a new challenge: to visit New Zealand and its gorgeous spots, with a Working Holiday VISA, they will fly to “Middle-earth”. Once there, the first mission will be to get a van to camp and a winch to discover idyllic spots for the two wakeskaters, in search of sensations !

As you might expect, this kind of adventure is expensive!

As Ken says: “We would really like to get a good drone to make a short film, credible, about our trip during the year. A short film of our adventures, based mainly on wakeskate, travel and landscapes. (…) We hope to bring back beautiful images and especially enjoy, discover and show our vision of wakeskate to those who are interested…”

Partners of the young DAB Wakeskate brand, but also helped by the city of Grenoble and their relatives, Ken and Deborah worked in France and then planned to find a job there. Less than 50 days before their departure, they call on the big water sports sports family! Indeed, they still need help to finance their drone, the Van and especially the equipment necessary to immortalize their adventures !

Ken est un wakeskater pour qui chaque point d’eau peut devenir un énorme spot de wakeskate ! Plus tôt, on l’a vu dans des sessions street en plein coeur de Grenoble ou encore dans des rivières en bordure de forêt cet hiver.

Alors cette année, c’est un nouveau défi que le couple a choisi de relever : partir visiter la Nouvelle Zélande et ses spots magnifiques.

C’est avec un VISA Working Holiday qu’ils vont s’envoler direction la “Terre du Milieu”. Une fois sur place la première mission sera de se procurer un Van pour camper et un winch pour partir à la recherche de spots idyllique pour les deux wakeskaters, à la recherche de sensations !

Comme vous vous doutez, ce genre d’aventure a un prix !

Comme le dit Ken : “On aimerait vraiment arriver à se procurer un bon drône pour arriver à rendre un court métrage, crédible, sur notre trip pendant l’année. Un mini film de nos aventures, basé essentiellement sur le wakeskate, le voyage et les paysages. (…) On espère ramener de belles images et surtout profiter, découvrir et montrer notre vision du wakeskate à ceux que ça intéresse…”

Partenaires de la jeune marque DAB Wakeskate, mais aussi aidés par la ville de Grenoble et leurs proches, Ken et Deborah ont travaillé en France puis prévu de trouver un job sur place. Moins de 50 jours avant leur départ, ils font appel à la grande famille de la glisse ! En effet, ils ont encore besoin d’un coup de main pour financer leur drône, le Van et surtout du matériel nécessaire pour immortaliser leurs aventures !

HANNAM’S WAKE 

The wake park is located in farm land 15min North of Cambridge. There are a System 2.0 cable and a 5 tower Rixen, a straight line cable and a great range of UNIT obstacles, situated in a unique location within farmland in the fens. It is run by brothers Ben & Terry Hannam along with Ben’s wife Jess Hannam. Their facilities, which include toilets, changing rooms, cafe and car park.

The cable park is located in the town of Tonsberg, 100 km from Oslo, capital of Norway.
2 winches with System 2.0 Sesitec of 120 meters.
The first cable is for beginners, without modules. The second is for riders with two UNIT  modules: 1 kikers-spine and 1 Andy Kolb.
The lake is small and well protected by the forest.

“Brian Grubb is always looking to innovate in wakeskating and the American took the sport to new territory with his drone tow ride down the Sava Bohinjka River in Slovenia. The New Hampshire native finally realised a dream he has had for years about taking wakeskating into the future with technology. He teamed up with Infineon Technologies to get an electric-powered quadcopter drone built that would be able to tow him down the idyllic crystal clear Alpine river, which flows deep in the mountains of Slovenia. The German company delivered a safe and reliable flying machine with a battery as powerful as 158 smartphones put together (1,5 kWh / 51,8 V / 30 Ah) and rotor blades stretching 80 centimetres in diameter. The impressive 24-kilogram machine could tow Grubb for 10 minutes straight and could even lift him in the air if needed with the 38-year-old completing a world first winch-to-drone handle pass as part of the project.”
