Blackbird est une des références dans le milieu du wakeboard. Composé de Kévin, un ancien wakeskater de la scène française, et d’Antoine, wakeboarder reconnu dans le monde entier. Ils maitrisent leur sujet à la perfection. Ces filmmakers spécialisés en image aérienne, nous ont scotché avec Natural Playground et leurs projets Red Bull. Les deux compères vont faire mal avec une sélection de team 5 étoiles.

Ce jeu se déroulant à l’international, trois zones ont été délimitées : Amérique Nord/Sud, Europe/Afrique et Asie/Océanie. Ces zones ont été choisies pour que chaque continent puisse avoir des gagnants et obtenir des récompenses.

Mais je vois venir votre question de globe trotter : J’habite en France et j’ai pris une photo aux Philippines, dans quelle zone je suis ?? En fait, vous pouvez prendre des photos de n’importe où dans le monde et autant de fois que vous voulez, vous serez automatiquement admis dans une zone en fonction des informations de vos comptes Facebook ou Instagram.

Les catégories

Avec Unleashed Your Ride, la créativité est à l’honneur ! On a choisi trois catégories pour que vous puissiez pleinement exprimer vos talents de rider et de photographe.

En premier la catégorie Best Trick qui met à l’honneur le wake à l’état pur ! On vous fait confiance pour envoyer du lourd avec un max de style…

En second la catégorie Spot, chère à notre partenaire Spotyride, où vous pourrez capturer l’instant où vous êtes en total communion avec votre décor.

En troisième et puisqu’il en faut pour tous les goûts, on a choisi la catégorie Insolite/Coup de coeur . Là le but c’est clairement que vous nous émerveilliez, nous fassiez rire ou nous surpreniez, on vous laisse le choix de la manière dont vous allez vous y prendre, aucune contrainte !

Pour information, dans chaque zone il y aura un gagnant par catégorie. Ceux-ci remporteront chacun 100€ et 100 Spotycrédits. Le super lot sera lui remporté, par zone, par les gagnants Overall, c’est à dire que parmi les trois gagnants des catégories précédentes, le jury en choisira un par zone et leur attribuera le super lot. Si vous avez bien compris il y aura en tout 12 gagnants d’Unleashed Your Ride !

Le déroulement

Pour bien comprendre comment se déroule le challenge, on vous pose le planning ici :

1 Août au 18 Août minuit = Partage des photos de la communauté sur les réseaux sociaux.

19 Août au 21 Août minuit = Présélection des meilleures photos par les jurys.

22 Août au 26 Août = Publication par SpotyRide des photos sélectionnées par le jury.

22 Août au 31 Août = Vote de la communauté à travers l’engagement sur les réseaux sociaux.

1 Septembre = Décompte et Annonce des 9 gagnants.

1 Septembre au 4 Septembre = Vote du jury pour les gagnants Overall

5 Septembre = Annonce des gagnants Overall

Les jurys

On a abordé le fait que les amateurs, les spots et les marques faisaient partie intégrante du challenge mais les riders professionnels dans tout ça ?? On a décidé de leur donner du pouvoir en les intégrant dans le jury du concours. Pour chaque zone, un ou plusieurs riders pros sera membre du jury et jugera les photos pour effectuer une présélection.

Ce sont donc les professionnels qui jugeront les participants ! Peut-être que votre photo sera présélectionnée par Daniel Grant ou Dominik Hernler… Ces professionnels seront ceux qui jugeront les catégories Best Trick et Insolite. La catégorie Spot sera, quant à elle, jugée par les professionnels de l’équipe Spotyride, naturellement.

Enfin, le jury final c’est… vous ! Après la présélection faite par les deux jurys, les photos sélectionnées seront repartagées sur Spotyride et ce sera la communauté qui décidera des gagnants Best Trick, Spot et Insolite !

On reviendra vers vous à ce moment là pour vous indiquer comment, en attendant gardez votre temps pour prendre les meilleures photos et les partager sur vos réseaux sociaux !

Le gagnant Overall sera lui désigné par les jurys professionnels.

As an international game, three zones have been defined : North/South America, Europe/Africa et Asia/Océania. These areas have been chosen so that each continent have winners and receive rewards. But i see your globe trotter question coming : I live in the USA and I took a picture in the Philippines, in which area am I ? In fact, you can take photos wherever you want and as many times as you want, you will automatically be admitted in a particular zone depending on the profile completed on Facebook or Instagram.

Categories

With Unleashed Your Ride, creativity is in the spotlight ! We chose with Spotyride three categories to show your rider and photographer talents. First, the Best Trick one for pure riders ! We believe in you to give your best… In second the Spot categorie, Spotyride’s love, to make the most beautiful spot picture. In third ans it is necessary for all tastes, we chose the category Insolite. Please amaze us, make us laugh or surprise us, we let you the choice of how you do it, no constraints !

For information, each zone has one winner per category. These winners will win 100€ and 100 Spotycredits. The super prize will be won, by zone, by the Overall winner, i. e. among the three winners of the previous categories, the jury will choose one grand winner. If you understood correctly there will be a total of 12 Unleashed Your Ride winners!

Process

Here is the schedule of the contest :

1 August to 18 August at midnight = Pictures from the community will be shared on social media.

19 August to 21 August at midnight = Pre-selection of the 27 best pictures (3 per category) by the jury.

22 August to 26 August = Publication by SpotyRide of the pictures selected by the jury. Up to 6 pictures will be published per day.

22 August to 31 August = The community will vote through social media engagement.

1 September = 9 winners will be announced.

1 September to 4 September = Jury votes on the grand prizes

5 September = Winners of the grand prizes are announced

Juries

We discussed the fact that amateurs, spots and brands were an integral part of the challenge but professional riders ? It was decided to give them power by including them in the competition jury. For each zone, one or more professional riders will be a member of the jury and will judge the photos to make a pre-selection. So it is the professionals who will judge the participants ! Maybe your photo will be pre-selected by Daniel Grant or Dominik Henler… These professionals will judge the Best Trick and Insolite categories. The Spot category will be judged by the professionals of the Spotyride team, of course.

Finally, the final jury is… you ! After the pre-selection made by the two juries, the selected photos will be distributed on Spotyride’s social medias and the community will decide the winners of Best Trick, Spot and Unusual ! We will tell you how at the time. Then the Overall winner will be chosen by the professional juries.

This video is focussed on a dutch rider Thomas Hesselink. A very young and talented rider who is going for the top. The best way to reach the top with solid progression is the BbTalkin’s intercom that keeps the rider and coach in contact all the time. Direct feedback gives the rider more confidence and without stopping the ride. The new kicker comes again for the next try. No more talking no more waiting. Jus’t ride to the max.

Cable Waterskicenter Twente

WakeClub is the association for Wakeboarders from the Enschede area. We aim to expand the wakeboard sport in the Twente region and to promote this sport. In January 2013, the WakeClub was created from a group of young, fanatic and passionate wakeboarders from the Twente area. A group of athletes who have been wakeboarding together for several years at Waterski Twente. Wakeboarding is for the beginning and advanced, young and old. It’s about fun in the sport and with each other.

80 000 visitors celebrate MASH 2019

“It was hot in every sense of the word. Top-class events, huge crowds of spectators braving the sun and an atmosphere that you almost only get here at MASH – what more could you want?,” smiled Marion Schöne, CEO of Olympic Park Munich, as she reflected on a successful MASH 2019.
From 28 to 30 June, 80,000 visitors flocked to the Olympic Park Munich to experience three days of action sports. “I am delighted that despite the heat so many people came here to the Olympic Park. With MASH, we and our partners have once again touched a nerve. I am particularly pleased that the women’s events proved so popular with the crowd.”

Wakeboarding, skating, BMX, dancing, shopping, admiring, listening to music and chilling – the MASH Fest was a celebration of everything that makes the action sports scene so special. Around 100 stands offered visitors all manner of fun and entertainment. “I am convinced that it is this mix of high-class contests and the MASH Fest that makes the event so popular and successful,” said Marion Schöne. This year once again the MASH Fest was a central meeting point for people of all ages and interests with its interactive zones, music, art, culture and infotainment.

Julia Rick

She came to win – and she certainly didn’t disappoint. Germany‘s Julia Rick won the first Wakeboard Park Women‘s Contest at the Olympic Park in front of 10,000 fans. Things remained exciting right up until the end, with America’s Anna Nikstad leading the way in the standings until Rick’s final run. The nine-time world champion rose to the challenge and threw down a Toeside Backside 720 on the big kicker, combining this banger trick with a clean run over the other obstacles to push Anna Nikstad off top spot. “I am so happy to have won here. The contest here is really special and the park is technical and challenging to ride,” commented the 26 year-old. Third spot went to Mary Rougier (France).

Dominik Hernler

“What a weekend,” smiled Wakeboard Park Men’s Contest winner Dominik Hernler, who won the event for the second time after triumphing in 2016. Unlike in the women’s event, the Austrian claimed victory with his first run on the course in Munich. Second place went to Liam Peacock (UK) and third to John Dreiling (USA). “I had something up my sleeve for the second run, but in the end I didn’t need it,” commented 27-year-old Hernler. “The whole MASH weekend was insane,” said Jascha Wronka, who was in charge of the Wakeboard Park Contest. “The fans could see even more different tricks in even more different varieties than last year thanks to the new set-up.” He was also pleased with the success of the inaugural Team Contest, which the team of John Dreiling (USA), Anna Nikstad (USA) and Liam Peacock (UK) won on Friday.

10.000$ of prizemoney

With the LANGENFELD OPEN 2019 presented by O’Neill, Wasserski Langenfeld as the world’s biggest wakeboard site is once stepping up the game of wakepark competitions. With 65 riders from all over the world and 10.000$ of prizemoney for grabs the show was on in front of crowd of 2800 spectators.

The contest mode of LAO would go from a qualification heat mode to a head to head and a superfinal finish of the best 4 riders. Already the qualification rounds showcased, that the riders lineup could provide some big surprises since the riding level was so high and dense. Big names like Dominik Hernler and former winners Anna Nikstad and John Dreiling couldn’t advance to the head to head rounds.

Intense women final

The pressure for the women was on in the round of 8 to grab a spot in the superfinal. Slowly everybody realized, that this could be the day for Anne Freyer. She amazed with pool gap transfers into the creeper ledge an insane control and flow through the course.

On her side it was Maxine Sapulette (Netherlands), Maryh Rougier (France) and Angelika Schriber (Australia). At the end of an intense final, Anne Freyer made her dream come true taking top of the podium. Maryh Rougier took 2nd place and Maxine Sapulette celebrated her back to back 3rd place at LAO.

Daniel Grant perfect run

In the men’s round of 16, Langenfeld local Rien van der Pas could advance against Englands Joe Battleday but couldn’t keep his level up for the round of 8 match up against Daniel Grant. The superfinal was completed by Brazilian Pedro Caldas, throwing down the biggest frontside 900s, Mr. double roll Liam Peacock and Alfie Constable. Daniel Grant took top honors with a near perfect run in the superfinal followed very closely by Liam Peacock and Pedro Caldas.

The second edition of the LANGENFELD OPEN was a huge success and can hopefully be repeated annually from now on. Find the higlights right here

Bienvenu au freestyle wakepark

Crée seulement avec des containers, un bateau et une grue, ce wakepark à 360° est le premier du genre.

Le duo allemand Dominik Gührs et Felix Georgi, et l’autrichien Dominik Hernler ont eu l’idée de créer le projet après avoir vu un rider se faire mettre à l’épreuve dans un clip YouTube. Le trio a été traîné avec une grue flottante soudée à une plate-forme plutôt qu’à un câble.

La construction en vidéo

Voici la vidéo qui récapitule le processus de construction de ce wakepark d’un genre nouveau. Grâce à l’aide de cinq plongeurs industriels, les conteneurs d’expédition – convertis à l’aide de dispositifs flottants – ont été positionnés à l’aide de 28 ancres pesant chacune 800 kg. Au total, le processus de construction à lui seul a nécessité 10 jours de travail.

Les mots du créateur

“Il n’y a jamais eu d’obstacle en lévitation dans le wakeboard, c’est pourquoi aucun d’entre nous n’a jamais ridé comme ça, explique Gührs, et le wakeboard sur une grue est incroyablement cool. Le combiner avec des obstacles à conteneurs dans l’eau et dans l’air, c’est de la folie et quelque chose de complètement nouveau dans notre sport.”
