WHAT’S WKBND ?

WKBND (Wakebound) it’s OUTBND’s First-ever physical event. OUTBND’s Goal since the beginning was to create amazing experiences for its users: as a lifestyle+tech company, we believe running a physical competition is an amazing opportunity to create hybrid events and keep the community excited. What do we mean by Hybrid? Well WKBND is a Head to Head wakeboard competition, where athletes will compete to decide who’s the best athlete, BUT as they compete in the physical world they’ll have a digital contest through OUTBND’s challenge feature, where wakeboarders from all around the world will be the judges! We wanted WAKEBND to be “open” to everyone, which is why we have no age limit and we took out air tricks, which can sometimes be a barrier to entry. We wanted to create an event where people had to push behind the “boundaries” of their wakeboarding.

WHY TURIN WAKEPARK ?

Having to create an event like WKBND means having one of a kind wake park with features that allow athletes to really push their limits: No park in Italy does that better than Turin Wakepark, with among other features, the biggest (stationary) Snowramp in the World and an amazing wallride transition, both custom-built! But it’s never just about the race: it’s about people and the environment! We wanted to have a place where we could fully express the spirit of OUTBND and Turin Wakepark was the perfect spot to have a killer competition and entertain the community, allowing riders and spectators to enjoy the event at its best!

Guenther Oka & Julia Rick

Victor Salmon walked away with the win in the pro men’s division, Julia Rick took first place in the pro women’s category, and young ripper, Fynn Bullock took top honors in junior men. With this being the final stop, the overall winners were also announced. Guenther Oka and Julia Rick ended up crowned 2019 US Park Pro champions.

“This has been one of the most progressive park series I’ve ever been apart of and watching the level of riding climb through each round was insane,” said Oka.

“I’m super stoked to win the final stop of the US Park Pro and become the overall champion! Big thanks to the organizers of the series. I can’t wait to join the tour again next year!” added Rick.

All three cable parks – Wake Island, Quarry Cable Park, and Terminus Wake Park – hosted amazing events and the athletes came out, ripping and showing total commitment. Interestingly, all three venues had different winners in the pro men’s and junior men’s divisions. The organization has already confirmed that there will be a second edition in 2020.

Camsur Watersport Complex

The CamSur Watersports Comlex is the first world-class watersports complex in the Philippines and in Asia. CWC aims to bring cable skiing to a whole new level and attract watersports enthusiasts from all over the world with its top of the line facilities and relaxing environment.

This six (6)-hectare complex, with its 6-point cable ski system, is sure to draw guests, riders and spectators by the thousands. Because of good weather conditions, cable skiing in the park can be done all year round.

The cables run counter clockwise around the lake. Futhermore, a variable speed electric motor which can maintain speeds between 20 – 65 km/h powers the cables.

Notre rider Victor Salmon a déchiré les spots sélectionnés pour l’occasion aussi bien en winch que sur les cable-parks. C’est grâce a une team soudée de 5 personnes, que nous avons pu parcourir tous ses spots, à la vitesse de l’éclair et grâce également a tout le matos que GOPRO nous avait mit à disposition ces shoots unique et impressionnants.

Cette équipe nous a permit d’avoir une tournée fluide et sans soucis, en assurant toute la mise en place en sécurité des spots rencontrés tout au long de notre périple, et afin mettre en valeur le réel niveau des sportifs.

Apres 5 jours de tournage, nous avions suffisamment de bons rush pour monter la vidéo finale, qui a été présentée en exclusivité sur Unleashedwakemag.com notre plus fidèle partenaire media sur sa partie internationale.

Cette aventure s’est achevée autour d’un dernier repas, où nous avons pu fêter dignement le WAXTHAT Winch Tour 2017 et nous vous donnons rendez vous pour la prochaine saison, en attendant rester connectez a Unleashed Wake Mag pour en savoir plus…
