28 Jul CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS & THE SHREDTOWN CREW!
Here at Slingshot we’re honored to congratulate team riders Chris Abadie, Andrew Adams and Davis Griffin of the Shredtown Crew on what is surely the most significant achievement in their careers: The X Games GOLD Medal! It’s been 10 years since wakeboarding has been featured in the X Games, and the 2015
Real Wake project is proof that wakeboarding has everything it takes to hold it’s own in front of a global audience. With Chris riding their signature Shredtown pro model board and boots, Andrew behind the Lens and Davis on the winch trigger, the Shredtown Crew put 110% into this project and their efforts were recognized by the 7 other competitors with their votes, awarding Chris with the top spot in this groundbreaking event!
“When the Shredtown Crew contacted us back in 2008 with a link to their first winch video we responded immediately. There was something completely different about their approach to wakeboarding that was totally fun and refreshing. They were finding riding potential in so many places that would have otherwise gone completely unnoticed. To this day the crew continues to blow our minds with their creative rail designs and dedication to finding and shredding the most unique and uncharted locations on the map. Seeing their efforts land them front and center in the global spotlight is extremely exciting for all of us here at Slingshot!” – Jeff McKee, Wake Brand Manager
“There were a few spots in Chris’ part where we all wondered if he had lost his mind, but he pulled it off every time in true Abadie form. It’s inspiring to watch him step out of his comfort zone because it opens new doors for all of us…that’s what progression is all about.” – Davis Griffin
“For Real Wake we only had 20 days to film and edit the entire video which was something very unknown to us. However, when you are on such a tight deadline you can really see what you are capable of and it ended up bringing out the best in each of us. We learned so much from this experience and came away with a lot more than just a gold medal.” – Andrew Adams
“It was surreal to stand there with the best riders in the world and be announced as the winner. To have the respect from all the other competitors in the real wake event and know that they voted for our video was definitely one of the most humbling moments in my career.” – Chris Abadie
