ORLANDO WATERSPORTS COMPLEX WINS
2015 NATIONAL POINTS CHASE CHAMPIONSHIP
Founded in 2010, The National Points Chase consists of two weekly series (Traditional & Features Only) hosted throughout the summer at cable wake parks across the United States. The final event of the season, the National Points Chase Championship is the largest cable wakeboard event in the United States. Competing against over 335 riders representing 20 cable parks, Team OWC took 1st in both Traditional and Features, edging out longtime rival Texas Ski Ranch.
Competition began on Thursday with Traditional Cable qualifying rounds. Twelve riders in five divisions represented OWC in Finals on Saturday where five riders took podium placements. Team OWC swept the Amateur Wakeskate podium with Austin Armstrong in 1st, Daniel Pons in 2nd, and Dillion Dreiling in 3rd. Judson Sink placed 2nd in Beginner Wakeboard and Team Captain Theo Koester placed 2nd in Advanced Wakeboard.
Additionally, brothers Trent and Gavin Stuckey absolutely dominated the BoardCo Grom Attack Kicker Contest taking 1st and 3rd, respectively.
Team OWC also dominated the competition in the Features Only and Traditional Pro Finals on Sunday where 12 riders earned podium placements including seven first place titles. The Stuckey family earned Team OWC four titles with Gavin taking the win in Groms (9 & under), Trent winning Boys (10-14), mom Shannon winning Open Women, and dad Jason winning Masters (30+). Team Captain Theo Koester won Open Men while Taylor McCullough and Jamie Lopina took 1st and 2nd in Pro Women. George Daniels and Forrest Stern placed 1st and 3rd in Pro Wakeskate. Other podium winners include: Garrett Coleman – 2nd in Boys; Taylor Oxford – 2nd in Open Women; John Dreiling – 3rd in Pro Men.
Aktion Parks Manager Ryan Malone stated, “We are absolutely thrilled to be taking home trophies for both major Points Chase competitions! The atmosphere at the event was electric and it was great to see our team pull together and dominate the competition.”
Team Captain Theo Koester added, “It’s great to bring home a win but the time we share on and off the water is even better. We are very fortunate to be supported by Aktion Parks and all the riders and families that supported the OWC Team to make it to Nationals – without them, none of this would be possible.”
OWC WINS BIG : with a Pair of Team Victories at the 2015 National Points Chase presented by Rockstar Energy at Terminus Wake Park
Orlando Watersports Complex shines as the nation’s best wake park team by sweeping both the features only and traditional categories at the 2015 National Points Chase hosted at Terminus Wake Park. Presenting sponsor Rockstar Energy Drink was on site amping up the competition and helping riders send it all weekend long. Riders from all over the United States and a few from other parts of the world participated in largest wakeboard event ever held in North America. The WWA sanctioned 335 entries and well over 1000 scored runs at the 2015 National Points Chase covering four long days and 17 different divisions.
OWC posted an overall team score of 3045 points dominating in the features only category ousting the Texas Ski Ranch at 2205 points and Terminus Wake Park in third place with a close 2075 points. Riders were all scored the same on their placements no matter what their division they rode in and the round. OWC also proved themselves to be worthy of taking home two championship titles and trophies by also winning the traditional category with a score of 3775, taking out last years traditional champion’s the Texas Ski Ranch with a score of 3170 and placing third was Hydrous Wake Park, the only park other than OWC and TSR to win a team championship in the six year history of this event.
